《国语》是中国最早的一部国别史著作。记录了周朝王室和鲁国、齐国、晋国、郑国、楚国、吴国、越国等诸侯国的历史。上起周穆王十二年（前990）西征犬戎（约前947年），下至智伯被灭（前453年）。【题解】关于国语的作者是谁，自古至今学界多有争论，现在还没有形成定论。司马迁最早提到国语的作者是左丘明（左丘失明，厥有《国语》），其后班固、刘知几等都认为是左丘明所著，还把国语称为《春秋外传》或《左氏外传》。但是在晋朝以后，许多学者都怀疑国语不是左丘明所著。直到现在，学界仍然争论不休，一般都否认左丘明是国语的作者，但是缺少确凿的证据。普遍看法是，国语是战国初期一些熟悉各国历史的人，根据当时周朝王室和各诸侯国的史料，经过整理加工汇编而成。
